Thanks for the comment. Yes, your AIB example is all too common. One thing that is certainly missing from this industry is a sense of competition too when it comes along to taking out a pension and other such products. This is not the same as buying a pair of shoes that will wear out in 9 months. A pension may very well be in existence for the next 30 years. If it’s not the right fit for you, then you can potentially lose thousands.

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to take your time when making big decisions that have long term consequences. We are here to help and support when the time comes.

Refreshingly honest take on an industry that always seems to stand shoulder to shoulder preventing anyone peeking through the ranks! Thankfully now i fully understand the difference between your ‘vest-interest’ affiliated ‘advisor’ and the independant advice service you offer!

I cringe when i think of the times down the years when i sat with finance guys under the misconception that they had my best interests at heart! Even recently after opening a new business a/c with AIB the manager was very kind to setup a meeting with their pensions person to review my situation…lucky for me i wasn’t in a position to take him up on any of the products he offered to sell me!

When that situation changes i’ll definitely be knocking on your door!!

That’s exactly the point. Quick decisions can result in long term consequences. Never rush big or long term decisions.

What you say is so true, some people genuinely put more effort into choosing a chocolate from a box than they do their financial products… I think what’s of paramount importance is that your financial advice is ‘independent’ so if you say ‘Run, Margaret Run!’ at least I’ll know its for my own good, not someone else’s…
